About
About the Church:
Lifehouse Shenandoah launched in the fall of 2007 as an inter-denominational church with a focus on relationships, not traditional religion.
Instead of buying and maintaining an expensive building, we meet in a rented hotel conference room so we can spend more money on the real needs of people. Instead of having lots of scheduled programs, we spend more time at BBQs, T-ball games, and college events, so we can share life with those we care about. Instead of trying to put on a perfect show, we have a very casual Sunday service that uses live music, video clips, and down-to-earth teachings to communicate the love of God.
For us, it is all about having real and authentic relationships with God and with each other. The “church” is not buildings or programs; it is the people. So we’d love for you to come as you are, enjoy a free cup of coffee, and meet the individuals who call themselves “Lifehouse Shenandoah.” We look forward to having you!
About the Pastors:
Joel & Kristal Flower met at Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, PA, where they both pursued a bachelor’s degree in Bible with a concentration in church music & vocal performance. After graduating in 1996, they spent their first few years of marriage in Pennsylvania, working various jobs such as accounting, waitressing, coaching, working retail, performing church music, and evangelizing.
In 2001, Joel & Kristal relocated to Virginia to pursue full time ministry in the areas of church music and teaching. Through various relationships and circumstances, they felt God calling them to plant a church that would be relational, relevant, and inter-denominational. In 2007, that calling became a reality when Lifehouse Shenandoah was officially launched at the Best Western in Winchester, Virginia.
Joel hails from Arlington, Virginia, and enjoys hunting, golfing, fishing and anything sports related. In addition to serving as lead pastor at Lifehouse Shenandoah, he also is an assistant coach for women’s soccer at Shenandoah University.
A native of Buffalo, New York, Kristal loves singing, journaling, shopping, and enjoying coffee with friends. The Flowers feel grateful for their two sons and enjoy the privileges that come with a busy family life.
